How to read this dataset: prices are public references captured from official provider pages on 2026-10-14. Taxes, geography, promotions and billing cycles can change the amount shown at checkout. We label time-limited trials as trials rather than “free plans,” and we show renewal pricing when a promotional entry price would otherwise be misleading.

What changed in 2026

AI is now part of the core product in nearly every major website-builder category. Wix moved to Harmony and Aria, Webflow made AI available even on Starter and expanded it into CMS and code workflows, Framer uses Agents and credits, Shopify includes Sidekick inside the merchant platform, and Squarespace uses Blueprint AI to generate a coherent branded starting point.

Pricing has also become harder to compare from a headline number alone. Hostinger's entry price is tied to a long promotional commitment and a materially higher renewal rate. WordPress.com discounts more heavily on multi-year commitments. Shopify separates short introductory promotions from the normal subscription. This tracker is designed to preserve those caveats rather than flatten them into a misleading “cheapest” ranking.

Permanent free plan vs. trial

Wix, Webflow, Framer and WordPress.com currently offer permanent free ways to publish or host a site, although each keeps meaningful limits such as a platform subdomain, branding, page limits or reduced business functionality. Shopify and Squarespace use trials rather than permanent free production plans. Hostinger and 10Web are fundamentally paid-hosting products even when their onboarding lets you begin building before purchase.

Methodology

We manually verify pricing against each provider's official pricing page and record the billing condition that materially changes what a buyer pays. We do not treat a temporary discount as the normal long-term price, and we do not treat a trial as a permanent free plan. The dataset is intended as a research reference rather than a guarantee of checkout pricing.

For editorial rankings, pricing is only one factor. Our methodology also considers AI usefulness after launch, design control, CMS, SEO, ecommerce, learning curve and ownership. Affiliate relationships do not determine rankings.
